Customers running an aftermarket intake system may need to purchase the optional anti-surge ring. Some high-flow aftermarket intake kits can alter airflow characteristics entering the compressor, potentially increasing the likelihood of compressor surge during certain operating conditions. The anti-surge ring is designed to improve compressor stability and airflow management, helping maintain optimal performance and turbocharger longevity.
Factory intake systems typically do not require the anti-surge ring.
